Throughout the retreat, we explored how deeply we had been conditioned to avoid change in the name of safety. Many realized they had carried old narratives for decades, stories about who they could be, what they could accomplish, and what was “realistic” for people like them.

Some even remembered hearing messages like, “This is just the way it is for us,” and realizing just how much those words had shaped their beliefs.

"There I would say that my biggest takeaway from the experience was that as a group we all have our own struggles no matter how much we smile and laugh and look great and perfect. We are all struggling with one thing and sometimes more than one and that's sometimes talking about them, having people listen, validate us, sometimes give us advice if required is really healing. So my takeaway actually was how connection is so healing and how being vulnerable in a small setting is extremely helpful to my mindset that's for sure."

The biggest takeaway that I had from this weekend was to just find peace in the storm. Even when it seems like it's hard, know that this is just like a stepping stone to something major. And I guess like even through the hard times, even when stuff is hard, because we did modules and I think that's what I got from the modules, like even when stuff is hard that you have to appreciate the messy middle is what they called it in the modules.
