Stop Trying to Fit In, You Were Born to Stand Out
A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to spend 3 days with some of the most intelligent, compassionate, phenomenal women physicians I have ever met. These women are movers and shakers, real change agents in their fields of endeavor. In spite of their collective accolades and accomplishments, almost 100% expressed doubts about their contributions and the value they bring to the world.
This was an eye opening revelation for me and one that I will keep in mind going forward. We don’t see ourselves the ways others do. Our minds bend toward negativity. We amplify our perceived short comings and minimize our many gifts.
So, the next time I hear the negative chatter in my head telling me that I’m not smart enough, skilled enough or anything else enough, I’m going to remember that even superstars have completely false thoughts about themselves. Just because I think it doesn’t make it true! Instead, when the negativity comes, I’m going to challenge it with positivity and cold hard facts!
My friends, I encourage you to do the same. Don’t accept your negative thoughts as reality. We are everything enough at baseline. Stop comparing yourself to other people. You were not designed to be them just as they were not designed to be you. You have already accomplished so much and you have the skill set needed to do and be whatever you desire. Embrace your greatness and adopt a new mantra–I am more than enough, I am one of the best!
