Why do you eat that meal every Tuesday?

You don’t create your life once

September 17, 2026•2 min read

Just because you chose something at 28 doesn’t mean you have to keep living with it, the exact same way, at 48.

There are decisions I made years ago that I would make all over again.

Becoming a physician is one of them.

Medicine was a calling for me. I wanted it. I worked incredibly hard for it. And I’m proud of the career I built.

But the woman who chose medicine in her twenties couldn’t possibly have known everything the woman I am today would know, value, need or want.

She hadn’t lived this much life yet.

And that’s the thing.

While we’re busy living the lives we’ve built, we keep becoming.

We learn. We experience things we couldn’t have anticipated. We accomplish things. We lose things. Our priorities shift.

What mattered enormously at 30 may matter less at 50. Something we barely considered then may feel essential now.

But our lives don’t automatically adjust when we do.

Your priorities can evolve while your calendar stays exactly the same.

Your definition of success can evolve while you keep pursuing the same goals. What you need can evolve while you continue meeting the same expectations.

That’s how a life that once fit beautifully can begin to feel uncomfortable.

Not because you chose badly. Because you’ve continued becoming.

That’s why I believe a consciously created life isn’t created once.

Every so often, we have to be willing to examine the lives we’re living and ask:

Does this still reflect who I am, what matters to me and what I want now?

And when the answer is no, remember: you have power here.

You can question. You can explore. You can imagine something different. You can make another choice.

You don’t have to overhaul your life every time you evolve. But you do have to be willing to notice when your life hasn’t evolved with you.

So this week, examine one area of your life your work, your schedule, your relationships, your commitments, or your routines. And ask yourself:

Does the way I’m living this part of my life reflect the woman I am today?

And be willing to hear your answer. We listen, we don’t judge.

Because your life deserves to be examined not just maintained.

Want to explore this a little more closely?

I’ve created a free Value & Time Alignment Check to help you compare what matters to you now with where your time is actually going. It may help you notice where your life already reflects your priorities and where there may be a disconnect.

And if you’re ready to talk about your next chapter…

Maybe you already know something isn’t fitting anymore. Maybe you’re not sure what you want instead. Or maybe you can see where you want your life to go, but you’re having trouble figuring out how to get from here to there.
