Why do you eat that meal every Tuesday?

Why do you eat that meal every Tuesday?

September 10, 20262 min read

Maybe your family eats tacos every Tuesday.

Nothing wrong with tacos.

But why?

Maybe everybody loves them.

Maybe Tuesday is busy and they're easy.

Maybe you've done it for so long that you've never thought about why.

Now let's replace tacos with something bigger.

·Why do I live here?

·Why do I work here?

·Why do I worship here?

·Why am I always the one who handles this?

·Why does my week look the way it does?

When was the last time you actually asked?

I've been thinking about how easily we can begin living life by default.

Not because we're unhappy. And not necessarily because we believe we have no choices.

Sometimes we simply stop paying attention.

We get busy living the life in front of us. We follow routines, meet expectations, carry responsibilities and keep moving. And because the life is functioning, nothing forces us to question it.

This is dangerous because when we stop paying attention, we stop questioning. When we stop questioning, we stop imagining. And eventually, we can forget that there are choices available to us at all.

Reclaiming your power doesn't always start with making a big change. Sometimes it starts by paying attention to your own life again.

That is at the heart of this year's A Weekend For Me: Reclaim Your Power. We are creating space to step outside the routines, notice what you've stopped questioning, explore what else might be possible and decide what you want to choose more intentionally.

Whether you decide to join us or not, sit with these three questions:

1. What in my life am I doing mostly because that's what I've always done?

2. What have I stopped questioning?

3. If I believed I had a choice, what might I do differently?

You don't have to change anything today. Awareness is the starting point.
